Snacking giant pladis has unveiled the festive line-up for its sweet portfolio – including innovation from its McVitie’s biscuit brand.
Tapping into the trend for festive indulgence, the line-up will comprise new-for-2022 NPD, including McVitie’s Blissfuls Belgian Milk Chocolate & Cream – a limited-edition variant for the brand’s £3.1m Blissfuls range.
Alongside the NPD, McVitie’s has also revamped its Sweet Biscuit Assortments for Christmas, utilising the legacy of seasonal staples such as McVitie’s Victoria and the festive edition of McVitie’s Family Circle to extend appeal and help retailers capitalise on bumper sweet seasonal sales – set to exceed last year’s £174m.
The McVitie’s 2022 Christmas range will be supported by a PR and social campaign along with seasonal shopper marketing and POS, bringing to life the brand’s ‘Ready, Steady, Christmas’ message in stores.
What’s new?
New for 2022 is McVitie’s Blissfuls Belgian Milk Chocolate & Cream (RSP £2.59), golden, crunchy baked biscuits filled with smooth Belgian Milk Chocolate & Cream.
It is joined by McVitie’s Victoria Chocolate Creations, a new ultra-premium assortment that joins the McVitie’s Victoria collection. It comprises a selection of 12 biscuit varieties enrobed in layers of thick milk, dark and white chocolate. The 400g box has an RSP of £6.75.
Coming back
Returning festive favourites include a refreshed McVitie’s Victoria, which now contains 20% more chocolate. Half of the biscuit selection is new for this year, with classics like the Orange Cream and chocolate-dipped Oatie joining the assortment. It is available in boxes of 275g (RSP £4.40) and 550g (RSP £6.60) that feature – in a move to recycled board – new packaging which includes an ‘even more chocolatey’ flash on-pack.
The McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Jaffa Hamper (RSP £4.50) also returns and now includes the McVitie’s Jaffa Jonut alongside Jaffa Cakes Cake Bars, Jaffa Cakes Original 3-packs and Jaffa Cakes Orange & Cranberry 10-pack. The latter is also back as a standalone festive limited-edition with a £1.20 RSP.
Also returning
McVitie’s classic stocking filler, Jaffa Cakes Christmas Pole, is back too. It contains 40 Original Jaffa Cakes and RSPs at £3.50.
Rounding off McVitie’s seasonal line-up is the 310g Family Circle assortment (RSP £3.30) and McVitie’s Santa Snacks Chocolate Cake Bars, which are back for a third year. Packs of seven individually wrapped bars have a £1.25 RSP.
And finally, pladis has brought back Flipz Gingerbread for Christmas. Aimed at ‘swavoury’ snacking fans, it encompasses the brand’s signature salty pretzel coated in a gently spiced gingerbread glaze. Made for sharing, 150g bags RSP at £1.50.
