One in seven Brits plan to ‘Go Dry’ for January

One in seven Brits (10%) plan to ditch alcohol for the month of January, new data from YouGov suggests.

The survey found 15% of people who drink will ‘go dry’ at the start of 2023, while 75% of drinkers will not.

There is little difference in terms of gender, with 14% of male drinkers and 15% of women who drink saying they will forgo alcohol over the period.

Plans to go dry for January were highest among 18- to 24-year-olds, with 13% of drinkers from this age group planning to abstain.

Drinkers of between 35- and 44-years-old were the second largest group planning to go dry.

The intent was also highest in the North of England and lowest in the Midlands.
