Tranent newsagent put on the market

The Wee Shop in Tranent, East Lothian, has been put up for sale.

Situated on Blawearie Road, in the heart of Tranent, the business is surrounded by a large mix of residential properties. It is in a good location to catch early morning commuters and also benefits from strong seasonal trade from the local holiday park.

The business has been run for 38 years by James Thomson who is now selling to retire.

He said: “After these many years it is with mixed emotions that I am now retiring from the community that has kept me going through good and bad. I will be sad to not see my customers when the shop sells.”

Christie & Co believe that refreshing the internal space, obtaining an alcohol license, and providing a hot food to-go option could help increase the store’s turnover.

Liam Bain, Business Agent at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, said: “With consistent weekly sales, the business provides a good foundation to work from. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a freehold business in a busy housing area.”

The Wee Shop is on the market on a freehold basis at £75,000.
