Glasgow store secures planning permission for takeaway addition

A Glasgow convenience store has secured planning permission to open a takeaway in a shipping container next to its store at the second attempt.

An earlier proposal was turned down as planners believed it was “poorly designed” and did not have “adequate” waste storage or “suitable” ventilation to disperse cooking fumes.

However, councillors approved a revised scheme from applicant Rabnawaz Hussain that will see a container, clad in timber, installed as an extension to Acre Store.

The Acre Road outlet, which is near Acre Community Hall in the Maryhill area of the city, will serve rolls, toasties, sandwiches, chips, and hot and cold drinks.

The plans received three objections, which raised concerns over anti-social behaviour and litter, but 23 letters of support were also received.
