Deliveroo to trial newspaper delivery

Deliveroo is trialling the sale of weekend newspapers through Deliveroo HOP, the food delivery company’s rapid grocery delivery service, to mark the coronation weekend.

This is the first time that newspapers will have been available on Deliveroo, and if the trial is successful, could become a regular feature on the food delivery app.

The newspapers will be available via Deliveroo HOP with Morrisons and Deliveroo HOP with Waitrose, giving the option to order them alongside a range of more than 1,800 groceries, from milk, eggs, bread, fresh fruit, fresh flowers, to party food and prosecco.

Suzy McClintock, VP of Grocery & HOP at Deliveroo said: “No matter how our customers plan to spend the Coronation weekend, for many people this will be a day they want to look back at in years to come. Newspapers are the perfect memorabilia to capture a moment in time, so we’re excited to finally offer them to our customers on-demand through Deliveroo HOP.

“We’re continuously looking for new ways to enhance the customer experience and convenience on Deliveroo and if this trial is successful, we hope to make newspapers a regular feature on the app.”

Some of the UK’s most popular national newspapers will be available, including Daily Mail, The Telegraph, The Guardian, Daily Mirror, and Daily Express.

The trial is running from sites covering London, Manchester, Cambridge, Brighton and Bristol on 6 May 2023 – the day of the coronation.
