Stratospheric coupon buster

Now, UTC is at his most content on a Saturday lunchtime, shuffling from the pub to the bookies to put on his football coupon. None of your internets or your fancy apps, a good old fashioned slip and bookie’s pen is all you need to turn a profit. Well that and ruddy Aston Villa managing to keep the ball out their net. Anyway, his curiosity was therefore piqued when he heard of an adventurous young lad placing his bet from space. Space? Actual space? he hears you ask. Well, yes. It’s all thanks to a boy called Dean Saunders, who won a Paddy Power competition to see his coupon launched in a balloon. When it reached 100,000 feet the bet was placed via a link to Paddy Power’s web servers (and gate-crashed by John Terry), only for Dean’s choice to let him down. UTC certainly knows that feeling – but at least Dean got a £5,000 consolation prize.
