Spar Stornoway celebrated its recent refurbishment with a launch party for customers on 9 December.
Owned and operated by Allan MacDonald and his family for over 16 years, the 1,400sq ft convenience store on Bayhead Street was remodelled using the latest Spar branding with new window vinyls and in-store signage. New shelving, chillers, upright freezers, Fwip and Calippo Slush were also added.
The family also built a new kitchen for its food-to-go operation, which is a particularly important part of the store’s business. In addition, two more Tchibo Coffee machines will be sited in the store, to complement the existing two.
The store offers lottery; a range of newspapers and magazines; grocery, including Spar’s own-label range, off-licence; fuel; and an ATM.
On the launch day, customers were invited to enter a free prize draw to win one of two £50 Spar vouchers, while a second draw saw one lucky shopper stagger home carrying a 24” smart HD TV. Alongside promotional offers on leading food and drink brands, 100 Spar goody bags were distributed.
Allan MacDonald, owner of Spar Stornoway said he was “delighted” with the new-look store.
