Previous winners and new entrants are among the shortlisted nominees for the 10th SLR Awards. Brownlies of Biggar leads the way with an impressive four nominations, while Costcutter Aviemore, Shaun’s Premier Store, Churchill’s Convenience Store and 2012 Scottish Local Retailer of the Year, Spar Renfrew all picked up three nods.
Across 15 categories there are a total of 31 stores nominated from all over the country, proving that excellence in local retailing is of an enviable standard across Scotland. The SLR Awards celebrate the hand work and dedication of these retailers and judges were thrilled with the standard of entries this year.
And it wasn’t just the quality that impressed. A record number of entries were achieved this year, up almost 20% on 2012, and with many new retailers getting involved in the Awards for the first time, it’s a hugely positive step for a resilient sector that is playing an increasingly important role in the local communities it serves.
All shortlisted entrants are invited to attend the Awards as a guest of SLR. All winners will be unveiled at the awards ceremony at Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday 6th June.
