Shloer’s festive fizz quiz celebrates ‘art of popping’

Popping corks

Shloer has teamed up with body language expert and behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings to identify the key ‘popping personality types’ that will be revealing themselves with every pop of a cork on bottles of fizz, whether that be sparkling Shloer Celebration, Champagne, Prosecco or similar, in homes across the UK this Christmas.

With the festive season firmly focused on popping the cork on a bottle of bubbly with friends and family, Shloer and Jo Hemmings have developed a light-hearted quiz enabling consumers to reveal the characteristics which will identify them with one of six ‘popping personality types’ – the Dominant Popper, Premature Popper, Popping Performer, the Twist & Shout, the Avoidant Popper and the Spritzer.

To add to the merriment, Hemmings has suggested celebrity examples to illustrate each type of ‘popper’, with Simon Cowell and Anne Robinson being identified as Dominant Poppers; Prince Harry and Dame Judi Dench as Popping Performers; Graham Norton and Lily Allen being firmly placed in the Twist & Shout category; and Ed Sheeran and Holly Willoughby being categorised as Avoidant Poppers.

Jo Hemmings explained: “Cracking open the cork on a bottle of fizz, such as Shloer Celebration, is the perfect way to set the party mood in swing – sharing a glass of bubbly is part of what makes the social ritual feel special whether you’re drinking alcohol or not. The beauty of this research by Shloer is that it not only gives us insight into the party mood, but it tells us more about ourselves and the way that we tick in social scenarios.”

Amanda Grabham, Marketing Director – Soft Drinks at SHS Drinks, added: “While the spectacle of popping corks will be enjoyed through Christmas and New Year, we’re pleased that Shloer Celebration can play a vital role by offering those who don’t drink alcohol a sparkling no-alcohol alternative to raise a toast during the festive celebrations.”

Shloer accounted for more than half (56%) of all adult soft drinks sold in the off-trade in Scotland last Christmas.
