Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity is celebrating the World Cup with a sporting-themed giveaway.

The Sports in the Community initiative will see almost £40,000 handed out to 32 individual sports teams across the UK enabling them to purchase new kit and equipment.

Nisa retailers have been nominating sports clubs – including football, rugby, cricket, bowls, and boxing clubs – in the communities where they are based to be in with a chance of a charitable donation.

In total 32 sports clubs were randomly selected and will now receive a donation of £1,000 via their local Nisa retailer. Each of the nominated clubs was also matched to a World Cup team in a sweepstake with a further donation of £2,500 awarded to the club whose football team wins the tournament and £1,500 for those coming in second, third, or fourth place.

Helen Walker, Marketing Manager for MADL, said: “We wanted our retailers and their customers to join in the excitement of the World Cup this winter and thought the Sports in the Community was a fitting way of getting everyone interested.

“The nominations were made by Nisa retailers, and we used all our available channels to encourage shoppers to get involved and ask in their local store for support for their teams. We were really pleased with the response and to see such a wide array of grassroots, inclusive sports teams and clubs benefiting.”
