New boss for Brewdog

Man in cap
BrewDog 'captain' James Watt

BrewDog founder and boss James Watt is standing down from his role and will be replaced at the helm by current Chief Operating Officer James Arrow.

Watt, who founded BrewDog with Martin Dickie in 2007, will assume a non-executive position with the Ellon-based brewer.

Arrow, who only joined the company last year from Boots Opticians, is a “proven leader,” in the words of BrewDog Chair Allan Leighton. “His eight months as COO have given him a great insight into the business. The board is delighted to have him as CEO, to lead the company into its next phase of growth.”

Watt now plans to concentrate on other projects and interests, but remains on the BrewDog board as co-founder and so-called ‘captain’.

He commented: “I am excited to take a bit of time off, to travel, to spend more time with my family and friends. I am also looking forward to being able to dedicate some more time to my other business interests.”
