GroceryAid awards over £880k in School Essentials Grants

Industry charity GroceryAid has helped ensure 5,926 children will return with the correct uniform and equipment.

A total of £888,900 was granted to families in need this year, a 36% increase compared to last year’s School Essentials Grant. Eligible parents received £150 per school-aged child up to a maximum of three children per household.

Mandi Leonard, Welfare Director at GroceryAid, said: “This year’s School Essentials Grant has been the largest fund awarded since it launched four years ago. We are delighted to be able to help so many more families at a time when they need it the most.”

Grocery workers experiencing financial difficulties can still apply for a GroceryAid Cost of Living Grant, if they have been employed in the industry for at least six months and meet eligibility criteria.
