Drymen store relaunches after major refit

A newly revamped Spar store has opened in Drymen, near Loch Lomond.

Spar Drymen, which is owned and operated by CJ Lang & Son, has been completely refurbished. Customers are greeted with new branding externally and internally, new floors throughout, and enhanced lighting. All refrigeration cabinets have been replaced with modern, environmentally friendly fridges and freezers. The store also has a new sales counter including a self-service checkout area.

In addition, customers are experiencing an improved fresh produce and meat offering, a range of bakery products, and an extended licensing range.

Steven Irons, Company Owned Stores Operations Director at Spar Scotland, said: “We are really pleased with the work that has been completed at Spar Drymen and are delighted to share the new improved look with residents of the village. As a popular tourist spot, we know visitors to the area will also enjoy shopping in the revamped store.

“The investment we have made into Spar Drymen is a continuation of the work we have done to other stores in our estate in recent months and we are delighted with the results they are producing.

“Spar Drymen is positioned at the heart of its locality, and we are sure everyone in the area will enjoy the benefits of our investment. We have made considerable improvements to the in-store shopping experience, and we hope the great range of quality products and services will serve the area well for many years to come.”

Spar Drymen employs 12 people and is open 6.30am – 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am – 10pm on Sunday. The store also features a free ATM machine, Paypoint, Lottery, Tango Ice Blast, Costa, and a range of food-to-go items.

The refurbished store held a launch event to celebrate the reopening on the afternoon of 21 April, where residents and local shoppers were invited to attend and see what was new at their local Spar store.

Visitors were treated to goody bags which were filled with a selection of Spar own label products. Brownings the Bakers provided lots of traditional treats and the Spar Spinning Wheel provided prizes for customers to take away, and a prize draw took place that saw one lucky shopper winning £100 of Spar vouchers.

The store also invited three local charities to attend the launch event and presented each of them with a £500 cheque. Drymen Senior Citizens, Drymen in Bloom and Drymen Primary School each had representatives there on the day to collect their respective donations.

CJ Lang has implemented a significant refurbishment programme across its company-owned store estate with many stores already benefiting, including Gatehouse of Fleet, Balmacara, Spean Bridge, Crosshouse, and Hillfoot. The store development programme will continue at pace over the next 12 months.
