Beach party lager Goas into off-trade

Goa Premium Beer

In response to growing customer demand, Indian-based Viiking Ventures (yes, that is a double ‘i’) is now shipping its 4.8% abv gluten-free Goa Premium Beer to the off-trade.

Available in 500ml cans with an rrp of £1.39, the pilsner had, until now, only been available in bars and restaurants in 340ml and 650ml bottles.

The packaging design depicts a Goan beach party scene, for which the coastal state is famous. In terms of on-shelf standout, the cans are going to stick out like a sore thumb next to the Tennent’s.

Unlike other ‘Indian’ offerings which are brewed in Britain, Goa Premium Beer is produced using a malt- and maize-based recipe in a brewery sited on the banks of the Kushavati River.

“We have been bombarded with enquiries, not just from coeliacs and those with a gluten intolerance who want to drink our beer at home, but also from those customers who discovered the authentic Indian product in restaurants and like the clean, sharp, refreshing taste,” said Goa Premium Beer Director Frank Sequeira.
