October 2026 marks the 12-month countdown until the implementation of the new Deposit Return Scheme, one of the biggest operational challenges that local retailers have faced since the introduction of the National Lottery in 1994.
To help local retailers prepare for DRS in good time, SLR is hosting a special one-day event to provide retailers with everything they need to know in just one day. The event will also allow attendees to see first-hand a selection of Reverse Vending Machines and semi-automated manual handling systems from many of the UK’s leading suppliers.
By the time retailers leave, they will fully understand the deposit return scheme and what it means for their business and will be on the journey to finding the most appropriate solution for their business. All in one day.

He regularly writes on retail trends, policy and industry challenges.
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) is one of the world’s largest Coca-Cola bottling partners, producing, distributing and selling some of the UK’s best-known soft drinks.
Sustainability is central to its business, with work focused on reducing packaging impact, increasing recycled content, cutting carbon emissions and supporting more effective drinks container collection. In Great Britain, CCEP has long supported a well-designed deposit return scheme and is working with Exchange for Change, the organisation delivering the scheme in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland ahead of its October 2027 launch.
The business has also backed practical trials to understand how incentives can influence recycling behaviour, including reverse vending machine activity at Scottish colleges. Through its packaging strategy, operational scale and collaboration with retailers, policymakers and environmental partners, CCEP aims to help build a more circular system in which plastic bottles and cans are collected, recycled and turned back into new packaging from everyday use.
CMB RVM Solutions was created with a clear purpose: to help shape a smarter, more circular future for recycling.
Manufactured in the UK, our Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) solutions support retailers and operators as they navigate the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) with confidence. Beyond technology, we enable a system where aluminium cans and PET bottles are produced, consumed, collected, and recycled entirely within the country.
Bringing together CMB Engineering, Crown Holdings, Returmatic, and PURE Recycle, we combine over 150 years of engineering heritage with more than 20 years of RVM expertise to deliver reliable, scalable solutions built for real-world performance.
Working alongside initiatives such as Exchange for Change, we are contributing to a broader shift, driving behaviour change, improving recycling outcomes, and making circularity a practical reality.
Our focus is simple: to make recycling easier for retailers, more intuitive for consumers, and more effective overall.
Envipco is a reverse vending machine technology company that designs and supplies recycling systems for deposit return schemes around the world.
With more than four decades of experience, the business provides flexible solutions for retailers, redemption centres and national schemes, ranging from compact machines for smaller stores to high-volume systems for supermarkets and larger return locations.
Its machines are built to collect common drinks containers, including plastic bottles, cans and glass bottles, with compacting and storage technology designed to improve efficiency and reduce handling. Envipco also supports customers with digital tools, deposit accounting, logistics and service options, helping make container return schemes easier to operate and more convenient for consumers.
By combining hardware, software and operational support, Envipco works with retailers, brands and scheme operators to improve recycling rates, support circular economy goals and create practical infrastructure for cleaner, more effective drinks container collection in everyday retail environments at scale.
Reborn RVMs designs, deploys and supports reverse vending machines that help businesses and organisations make container returns simple, reliable and rewarding. Built around the idea of circular retail, the company provides the infrastructure needed to give drink containers a second life and support large-scale recycling.

Reborn RVMs works with customers from initial site survey through installation, maintenance and ongoing support, including proactive monitoring, rapid response, an online portal and clear fault reporting. Businesses can choose machines and service packages to suit their footprint, container volumes and operational needs. The company also offers dashboard access and reporting for fleet visibility, CSR, Deposit Return Scheme compliance and finance.
Reborn RVMs measures success not just in revenue, but in containers recycled and environmental impact delivered. Its approach combines engineering rigour with long-term partnership and transparency.
Trovr is a recycling technology company helping make single-use drink container returns easier, cleaner and more rewarding for consumers, retailers and hospitality operators. Part of Trovr Tech, the business combines hardware and software, including the compact Trovr QUBE smart collection device, consumer and merchant apps, rewards, vouchers and digital deposit return scheme capability.
Built with independent retailers in mind, Trovr’s technology provides a space-saving alternative to large reverse vending machines or manual bag-behind-the-counter systems, supporting compliance while creating opportunities to drive footfall and customer engagement. Its app encourages people to recycle more by rewarding eco-conscious behaviour, while merchant tools give retailers data and promotional options.
With live activity in European markets and plans to scale ahead of the UK’s 2027 Deposit Return Scheme launch, Trovr aims to make recycling infrastructure more accessible, commercially practical and impactful for communities, brands and scheme operators seeking circular economy solutions at practical everyday locations.
