When Des met Rupert

You know how it goes, you serve a customer and the next one comes along, you know your customers by name so you say, ‘hello Rupert, usual is it?’ Then you realise it’s not a regular customer but the most powerful man in global media.

That’s what happened to Paisley retailer Des Barr when the owner of The Sun and The Times (and a few other bits and bobs), Rupert Murdoch popped in to see him while visiting Scotland ahead of the referendum. Under the Counter only hopes that Rupert paid for his newspaper.
