Tobermory Distillery has unveiled Ledaig Castaway, a limited-edition peated single malt finished in a combination of Caribbean rum and Mexican tequila casks – a first for the Ledaig range.
Made on the Isle of Mull, the single malt combines maritime peat smoke with tropical flavour influences, including grilled pineapple, mango and citrus, alongside notes of agave, salted vanilla and warm spice, followed by a long, smoky finish.
The release forms part of the distillery’s ongoing partnership with the Mull and Iona Community Trust, which has raised £60,000 through previous limited-edition bottlings. This year, a £20,000 contribution from Ledaig Castaway will support the Trust’s Ranger Service, helping to maintain access to key locations across the island, including Rubha nan Gall lighthouse, which features on packs.
Ledaig Castaway is the third limited-edition whisky developed in partnership with the charity, with proceeds helping to support projects focused on protecting and maintaining Mull’s landscape.
Ledaig Castaway (61.1% ABV) is available now with an RSP of £65 (70cl).
