Under The Counter has some sage advice for retailers with stores close to live music venues: stock up on adult nappies.
Before you give this notion the bum’s rush, remember that SLR’s most senior of citizens didn’t get to where he is today (the desk closest to the toilet) without knowing a thing or two about incontinence.
UK online searches for ‘adult nappies’ have increased by 5,000% recently, a trend UTC was keen to get to the bottom of.
It turns out this surge follows Olivia Rodrigo moaning that she can sometimes smell fans wearing nappies from the stage. Possibly during renditions of her top-three hit, Bad Idea Right?
The practice means diehard Rodrighoes (yes, really) who need the toilet don’t lose their front row place after queuing for hours. Losing their last shred of dignity is presumably a worthwhile trade-off.
Rodrigo’s comments have apparently reignited the debate – one which the Auld Boy was blissfully unaware of – over whether donning keech catchers to live music events is a practical concert hack or a step too far. Under The Counter suspects it may be the latter.
The Auld Boy is not rushing to judgment though; he remembers grown men peeing in empty beer cans at football matches. Given the state of stadium toilets back in the black and white days, however, this was perfectly understandable.
SLR’s legal counsel was at pains to point out that deliberately soiling yourself in public can result in a £1,000 fine. They needn’t worry; UTC would never do that. Not deliberately.
