Schweppes brings a twist to Christmas

Gin and Schweppes tonic

Schweppes has partnered with Diageo to create 12 festive cocktails, named the ‘12 Twists of Christmas’.

The cocktail recipes will feature on the back of Schweppes labels, and include Merry Mule, Sour Sleigh Ride and Mistle-Sloe Gin. These new seasonal drinks are made using a mix of the Schweppes portfolio, including Tonic Water, Ginger Ale and Lemonade. Schweppes has also co-created five of the 12 festive recipes from the Slimline range; including Elderflower Tonic, Bitter Lemon, Ginger Ale, and Lemonade & Tonic.

The on-pack recipes are intended to encourage additional basket spend, by listing the ingredients needed to make the cocktails. This includes the recommended alcohol brand and garnishes such as cloves, cinnamon sticks, pomegranate seeds, rosemary, olives, cranberries and mint. The recipes also have a ‘Pro’ option for shoppers who are a little more experimental and confident in crafting their drinks.

Schweppes, purchased by 1.9m consumers at Christmas, will also be supporting the festive activity with out of home, digital and cinema advertising; and POS for retailers.

Simon Harrison, commercial director for Schweppes at Coca-Cola European Partners, said: “Consumers are looking for a quality, premium drink during the festive season that they can impress their guests with, and the new Schweppes ‘12 Twists of Christmas’ offers a fantastic choice of cocktails from the nation’s favourite mixer brand.”
