Put it to the test

When the team at SLR first heard of the new ‘spirit beers’ being launched into the market by SHS, we were suitably intrigued. Fast forward a few months and both Cuvana (Rum flavoured beer) and Dead Crow (Bourbon flavoured beer) have been performing well and increasing distribution. In order to see just how popular they were, we teamed up with the brands to run a trial in Mr. Ahmed’s Londis store in Glasgow’s Albert Drive.

The area is densely populated with a high level of under 30s, so ideal territory for Cuvana and Dead Crow. “I’ve priced the products the same as other premium beers and customers have certainly noticed it. It’s a bit different,” says Ahmed. “I like to put new products on promotion, use a bit of in-store theatre, so while it’s early days for these products, I’m confident the results will be positive.”
