Black Tot Rum launches Master Blender’s Reserve 2025

Black Tot Rum Master Blender’s Reserve 2025

Black Tot Rum has released the 2025 edition of its Master Blender’s Reserve limited series.

The heart of the 2025 blend is Guyanese rum, accompanied by other traditional navy rum components from Jamaica and Barbados, as well as a rare single cask from Trinidad’s Caroni distillery, which closed in 2002. To celebrate five years of the Master Blender’s Reserve, it also contains a bonus ration of the original Black Tot 50th Anniversary, which has been further maturing in an ex‑sherry butt since 2020.

The story of Black Tot Rum began on 31 July 1970, known as Black Tot Day, marking the Royal Navy’s last daily rum ration to sailors. Black Tot Rum started in 2010 after Elixir Distillers and Whisky Exchange co-founder Sukhinder Singh acquired flagons of the last consignment of the Navy rum.

Elements of this rum are included in the annual Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve, produced using a ‘perpetual blend’ technique. Each release is blended with a percentage of the previous year’s edition, tracing back to the first edition in 2021 and its precursor, Black Tot 50th Anniversary from 2020. The blend also includes rum from the last remaining Royal Navy flagons.

Master Blender’s Reserve 2025 is available via Speciality Brands.
