Nikka Whisky has launched Miyagikyo Single Malt 10‑year‑old in the UK via premium spirits distributor Speciality Brands, marking the first age‑statement release from the Miyagikyo distillery since 2016.
Following the 2022 return of Yoichi Single Malt 10‑year‑old, the new Miyagikyo expression represents a further milestone in Nikka’s programme to present new Japanese whisky releases developed by its current blending team from carefully preserved stocks.
Bottled at 45% ABV, Miyagikyo 10‑year‑old is a limited release that showcases the distillery’s signature elegance and fruit‑forward character. Matured for a minimum of 10 years in the mountains of Miyagi Prefecture, it offers layered tropical notes of pineapple and mango on the nose, with a palate of sweet vanilla, baking spices, fruit cake and clove leading to a long, gently caramelised finish.
The release also introduces updated packaging that reflects the distillery’s natural surroundings. A smaller label crafted from traditional Japanese washi paper emphasises texture and refinement, while a deep forest green replaces the previous pink to evoke Miyagikyo’s setting.
