The generous folk at Bourtreehill Supermarket in Irvine are keeping local children hydrated this summer by donating 5000 bottles of water to 13 primary schools.
The store, which is run by owner Imran Ali, assisted by supervisor and Above & Beyond Independent Store Colleague winner, Kerri Grier, claimed to have “smashed it”, having donated more water bottles this year than the last three years combined.
“A small gesture goes a long way,” said the team. “We continue to give as much back as we can locally to support schools and groups.”
The shop also regularly teams up with the Scottish Grocers’ Federation’s Healthy Living Programme to provide free breakfasts to local schools.
In addition, the shop offers free fruit every morning for local children.
