Call that a sandwich?

Take two slices of plain bread. While buttering these slices, fry a square sausage in a little oil. When the bread is sufficiently buttered and the sausage crisp on the edges, simply transfer it onto one of the slices, generously topping with tomato ketchup before placing the second slice on top. That, dear readers, is the recipe for the World’s Greatest Sandwich, so UTC was a little bewildered to hear that the British Sandwich Association has just named Elliott Cantrell as Sandwich Designer of the Year. Elliot’s creation was a Tofu and soya nut Bahn-Mi, with British root vegetables and Vietnamese chutney creation, which, quite frankly, is not a piece and square, however you dress it up.
Glasgow’s Dave Gannon was flying the flag for Scotland, having won the Scottish regional heat, but he was cruelly robbed of the title by Elliot’s posh fayre.
