Blind Summit unveils rare Macallan duo

Blind Summit Macallan

Leith-based independent bottler Blind Summit Whisky has launched its most exclusive collection to date, comprising two individually bottled whiskies drawn from a single Macallan cask distilled in 1989.

Limited to 30 sets worldwide, the release features one whisky finished in a Rivesaltes fortified wine cask and another finished in a Barbados rum cask. Each expression was created to enhance different elements of the original spirit’s character.

The Rivesaltes finish amplifies dried fruit and nut notes, while the Barbados rum finish brings out brighter tropical flavours.

Co-Founder and Whiskymaker James Zorab divided the original cask and oversaw both finishing processes over more than two years. The aim was to preserve the balance and character of the whisky while allowing each expression to develop its own profile.

Each pair is presented in the company’s signature 50cl packaging, featuring a mirrored label design that forms a continuous artwork across the set.

The whiskies are available now at £1,250 per 50cl bottle or £2,500 for the paired set through the Blind Summit Whisky website, direct enquiry and the company’s worldwide trade partners.
