Industry pays tribute to Charlie Faulkiner

Charlie Faulkiner

Retail and wholesale industry stalwart Charlie Faulkiner has died.

Born in Blantyre, Faulkiner began his career in a local Co-op store before rising through the organisation to become CEO of its wholesale operations. He later joined Wiseman, serving as deputy to Sandy Wilkie, before retiring around a decade ago.

Charlie was also a member of the SLR Awards judging panel in years gone by and an active supporter of the Maggie’s charity through his membership of Blantyre Round Table.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor, to whom he was married for more than 50 years, his son Scott and granddaughter Emilia.

Paying tribute, SGF Chief Executive Pete Cheema said: “Charlie was admired not only for his professional achievements but also for his integrity, kindness, and unwavering support of colleagues and friends across the industry. Those who had the privilege of working with him will remember his wisdom, humility, and commitment to helping others succeed.

“He remained deeply connected to his local community in Hamilton and was a loyal supporter of many charitable and community causes. Charlie’s contribution to our industry was immense, and his legacy will long be remembered.

“May he rest in peace.”
