Taylor’s Port unveils lighter bottle

Taylor's Port range

Taylor’s Port is introducing a new lighter bottle across its range.

The new bottle weighs 440g, compared with 580g previously – a reduction of around 24%.

Across Taylor’s annual production of around 2.5 million bottles, the change will save about 350 tonnes of glass each year and is expected to avoid around 210 tonnes of CO2 emissions during bottle manufacture.

The bottle retains Taylor’s Port’s distinctive silhouette and embossed coat of arms, while introducing subtle changes designed to improve its environmental performance.

The launch follows almost two years of development and forms part of a wider review of Taylor’s packaging, including responsibly sourced paper labels, increased recyclability, more environmentally friendly bottle stoppers, and a reduction in virgin plastic across the range.

The new bottle will be introduced progressively across Taylor’s Port’s portfolio as existing stocks are replaced in markets around the world.

The liquid inside the bottle will remain unchanged.
