Stag Bakeries, the Stornoway-based family-owned bakery, has doubled year-on-year sales for the third consecutive year.

The major contributors to the bakery’s sales growth have been cited as new product development and entering new markets.  In 2014 Stag extended their product offer and launched new lines that reflected Stag’s policy of producing sweet and savoury biscuits with provenance.

The retail base has been extended via new store listings and alongside this Stag entered the food service sector. Stag has also adopted a strategic export strategy that has seen the brand listed in around 10 countries worldwide.

Stag is heavily investing in the business to address this sales growth. New equipment has recently been installed and a 350sqm extension to the existing bakery is currently under construction.

Owner of Stag Bakeries, Charlie Macdonald, said: “The future for Stag is exciting. We operate in a very competitive market, so it is vital that we remain innovative and work hard on developing the bakery to remain ahead of the game. We remain committed to developing sales with the independent retail trade be it in the UK or further afield.”
