Bagel brand New York Bakery is introducing pre-sliced bagels and refreshed packaging across its range in response to shopper demand for greater convenience.
The move follows research showing two-thirds of shoppers would prefer their bagels pre-sliced. The format is designed to make bagels easier to prepare, portion and freeze, while helping reduce food waste.
New York Bakery said all bagels will continue to be made using its existing production method of boiling and stone baking to maintain their soft, chewy texture.
The updated packaging features brighter colours, clearer flavour differentiation and more prominent messaging highlighting product benefits, including low-fat and high-fibre claims where applicable, as well as freezer-friendly guidance.
Where relevant, packs will also highlight support for regenerative farming practices aimed at improving soil health, biodiversity and carbon storage.
The changes will be backed by an in-store and online marketing campaign, consumer PR and influencer activity expected to reach more than 15 million shoppers.
The rollout begins this month, starting with The Original Bagels. The Gluten Free range will remain unsliced.
