Spar set to make fresh for less

Spar UK is rolling out its Fresh For Less promotional activity into stores across the country, in a move to boost sales in the growing fresh foods category.

Specially designed mobile display units with four shelves, which can be situated either at the front of our outside the front of stores, are arriving in Spar stores now.

Spar retailers will stock only fresh produce on the units, offering five items of fresh fruit and vegetable on display at £1 each, and pre-packaged goods pricemarked to highlight deals to customers.

The fresh food available will be seasonally relevant, with products sourced by each region’s wholesaler.

Rebecca Whitmore, Spar UK Marketing Manager, said: “Fresh is a key area of growth for Spar, as we know consumers want to buy more fresh food from convenience stores. Fresh fruit and vegetables continue to dominate the market, with the number five clearly understood by the customer as part of any fresh communication thanks to government ‘five a day’ initiatives.

The activity will be supported in Spar stores by POS including posters, shelf cards, shelf stripping, with communication explaining portion size for five a day and seasonality.
