Spar raises almost half a million for NSPCC

Spar presents cheque to ChildLine

Spar UK has raised a fantastic £493,325 for the NSPCC in 2014/15, helping to support the vital work carried out by the ChildLine Schools Service.

The ground-breaking Schools Service uses specially trained volunteers to talk to primary school children about abuse.

The sessions are tailored to the age range of those in the group, with topics covered in an easy to understand way, without being graphic.

Debbie Robinson, Spar UK Managing Director, said: “As a business, we are passionate about supporting the Schools Service, which provides advice and support to thousands of children and young people.

“I am really impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm of employees at Spar stores, RDCs and offices across the country to raise money for the NSPCC – and it’s vital we keep up this support.

“We are looking forward to supporting the great work the charity does into 2016.”

Maribeth Lloyds, NSPCC Fundraising Manager, commented: “Spar is an amazing supporter of the NSPCC and we’re always really impressed with the way both staff and customers are keen to get stuck in to fundraising activities.

“While many of the fundraising efforts involve light-hearted fun for all involved, their impact extends so much further. Thanks to Spar’s continuing support, we can continue our fight for every childhood.”

Spar has raised almost £4,500,000 since the partnership began in 2006.
