Scotmid and Snappy team up in Reekie

Snappy Shopper is launching with Scotmid stores in Edinburgh after successful pilots in West Lothian, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire.

This latest expansion means around one-fifth of Scotland’s population will be able to use the home delivery platform.

Scotmid, which has 188 stores across Scotland, will offer over 1,000 product lines via the Snappy Shopper app or online. These will be picked, packed and delivered by Scotmid staff to the customer within an hour.

Delivery slots are made available every 24 hours and booked on a first come, first served basis. The concept gives Scotmid a point of difference over other larger retailers, whose online home delivery services are often booked up days in advance.

Stewart Dobbie, Head of Innovation and Change at Scotmid, said: “Snappy Shopper is enabling us to provide on-demand, simple, digital convenience to our customers and the positive feedback we receive daily from customers in areas where Snappy Shopper is in place supported our decision to expand the offering.

“Our move into the capital marks the next step in our drive to enhance our food offering to existing and new customers.”

Snappy Shopper boss Mark Steven added: “We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Scotmid and bring Snappy Shopper to Edinburgh.

“The Snappy Shopper platform is designed and built specifically for the convenience store market and is based entirely on working in partnership with retailers to drive incremental new sales. This in turn assists retailers in supporting the needs of their communities.”
