RaceTrack Strathclyde celebrates Co-op launch with donation

RaceTrack Strathclyde

RaceTrack Strathclyde has celebrated its relaunch under a new partnership with Co-op Wholesale by donating £500 to a local community organisation.

The Glasgow convenience store, located on St James Road, awarded the funding to Townhead Village Hall through Making a Difference Locally (MADL), the charity supported by Co-op Wholesale.

The donation will help the hall continue its work supporting local residents through community activities, events and wellbeing initiatives.

As part of the partnership, the store now carries Co-op Wholesale’s Proud To Stock Co-op branding and has introduced an expanded product range.

Townhead Village Hall Manager Isabel Baird said the organisation provides a wide range of services, including digital skills classes, family activities, volunteering opportunities and community café facilities.

She said: “This donation from Making a Difference Locally will help us continue delivering these opportunities and strengthen our efforts to reach every household in Townhead so that no one misses out on the support, activities and sense of belonging our hall provides.”

RaceTrack Strathclyde Retail Manager Guna Sud said the relaunch marked the first store opening under the retailer’s new partnership with Co-op Wholesale.

“A huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes to bring everything together,” he said. “The response on opening day has been fantastic, and we’re really excited about what this partnership can bring as we continue to roll it out across further RaceTrack stores.”

Kate Carroll, Social Values Lead at Co-op Wholesale, said community facilities such as Townhead Village Hall played a vital role in supporting local residents and encouraging community engagement.
