Personal cash withdrawals up 8% in February

Personal cash withdrawals exceeded £700m at post office counters in February, up 8% year-on-year, new data reveals.

However, the Post Office data reveals the short month and continuing cost of living and high street challenges contributed to month-on-month falls in personal and business cash deposits.

The data shows personal cash deposits totalled £1.22bn in February, down 12.7% month-on-month, but up 7% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, business cash deposits totalled £985m in February, down 9.7% month-on-month, but up 4.7% year-on-year.

In total, £2.93bn in cash was deposited and withdrawn over the counter at Post Offices in February, compared to £2.76bn in February 2022.

Post Office has raised more than £275,000 for the Trussell Trust since November, placing it on-track to reach its £330,000 fundraising target by the end of March 2023.
