Magners has launched a new spirit cider called Magners with Irish Whiskey. The new drink (ABV 5.5%) is the result of a collaboration with West Cork Distillers, who provided the whiskey. It will be available in Asda stores from the 5th of February, with distribution to independent retailers to follow. Each 500ml bottle contains 25ml of Irish whiskey.
Consumer demand for innovation in the cider category is high, with the proposition of combining spirits and cider becoming increasingly popular. Following on from the launch of a number of spirit and beer combination, which became known as the ‘speers’ sub-sector, this new launch fits into what has been called the ‘spiders’ sub-category.
