CJ Lang stores raise £700k for local causes

CJ Lang's £700k cheque presentation

Spar stores owned by CJ Lang have donated £700,000 to local causes, charities, organisations and community groups over the past decade, the Dundee-based wholesaler has announced.

Recipients include Spar’s chosen national charity Marie Curie, which received £100,000.

The remaining £600,000 has gone to the NSPCC, Children 1st and local charities and organisations across Scotland – often those that staff have a personal connection to.

Colin McLean, CJ Lang and Son boss, said: “I am very proud of the retailers, staff and customers at all our stores for raising such a fantastic amount for good causes since 2008.

“All of these funds have been raised through customer purchases of 5p carrier bags in store and we will continue raising funds this way to support local charities.”

CJ Lang turns 100 this year and plans further charity work as part of its anniversary celebrations.
