Burns Bites launches in time for Burns Night

Tartan tractor

Mash Direct has marked the launch of its new Burns Bites by wrapping the family-run company’s tractor in tartan.

Burns Bites is a combination of haggis, mashed potato and mashed turnip, all wrapped in a crispy gluten-free crumb.

The launch is timed nicely to coincide with Burns Night (25 January), which this year marks the 258th anniversary of the Bard’s birth. Mash Direct says it has mashed over six million kilograms of potatoes in the run-up to the annual celebration, enough – if laid end to end – to stretch from John O’Groats to Land’s End and back.

Discussing the company’s products, Jack Hamilton – director of Mash Direct – said: “We wanted to create a range that people can enjoy on Burns Night that is not only gluten-free but is ready in minutes.”

Burns Bites has an RSP of £2, and is available now.
