The Borders Distillery in Hawick has unveiled its first single malt Scotch whisky, marking the first whisky distilled in the Scottish Borders since 1837.
The Borders Single Malt Scotch Whisky, First Release is an eight-year-old, first-fill bourbon-matured single malt finished in malmsey Madeira casks.
Limited to 10,000 bottles worldwide, the 46% ABV whisky is available now, with international distribution to follow. It has an RSP of £46.
The whisky has notes of sultanas, citrus and caramel, alongside honey and vanilla on the nose and hazelnut and macadamia flavours on the finish.
The bottling introduces The Borders Distillery’s house style of fruity, sweet and aromatic whiskies. Its foil-embossed weave logo draws inspiration from the textile and manufacturing heritage of the Scottish Borders.
