Hundreds of customers came to celebrate the anniversary of Ali’s Nisa Royston in Glasgow last month, which has been serving the local community for 21 years.
The store marked the occasion with free food, including freshly prepared samosas, cakes, biscuits and ice cream, as well as giving away 300 goodie bags. Even the Millions Mascot and Spiderman stopped by to join in the fun and flag up some “superhero level deals”.
The shop has been family-owned and operated since 2004, with Raheem Ali Razaq taking over the running of the store from his brother in December 2024.
Raheem said: “It was mayhem but really good! We were helped by our Co-op Wholesale representative, Fiona Shearer, who was present for nearly the full day. It was an amazing celebration and a real thank you to the local community who’ve supported us for two decades.”
The milestone was supported by Co-op Wholesale’s regional team and a number of supplier partners, whose contributions helped make the day a success.
@alisnisaroyston What an unforgettable Open Day at Ali’s Nisa Royston! 💙 A huge thank you to our amazing community for showing up with so much love and energy – you made the day truly special. 💚 And a heartfelt thank you to our suppliers for their support in making this celebration possible. From the buzzing crowds to the smiling faces, every moment was memorable because of YOU. Here’s to many more milestones together! ✨💙 #AliNisaRoyston #OpenDayHighlights #CommunitySupport #Gratitude #GrandOpening
Now into its third decade of trading, the store continues to serve customers with quality groceries, value-led promotions, and friendly customer service – something Raheem believes has helped them thrive in a competitive location.
“We’ve always focused on serving the community, that’s been our goal since day one,” he added. “Working with trusted wholesale partners helps, but ultimately it’s about knowing what people need and being there for them.”
