Time to sign if you sell ecigs

Arjan Mehr

Retailers who stock ecigs and vaping supplies can start signing up to the Register of Tobacco and Nicotine Vapour Product Retailers from tomorrow (April 1).

Registrations must be submitted within six months, before the window closes on October 1.

Although tobacco retailers are not required to update their existing records, those who retail both tobacco and nicotine vapour products must update their registration to enable them to sell both.

The addition of vaping retailers to the current Tobacco Register also unfortunately means that existing registrants will need to reset their passwords to gain access to the new system, even if they only sell tobacco products. Retailers will need to know their unique username to login and do this, and the Scottish Government’s Tobacco Control team has sent out reminders by email.

Retailers with any queries about the process should contact their local authority Trading Standards Officers or the Tobacco Control team.
