The Big Sleep Out

JW Filshill is teaming up with JTI and a number of local retailers to raise funds to support the homeless. Together, the companies are hosting The Big Sleep Out on Friday 16th May to raise vital funds for homeless charities Shelter Scotland and Simon on the Streets.

50 volunteers will take part by sleeping out overnight in the car park at the Filshill site in HillingtonPark, Glasgow.

Simon Hannah, Managing Director at JW Filshill, said: “Sleeping rough is something most of us have no experience of and would never want to experience. I know that The Big Sleep Out will be a challenge but I feel extremely lucky that I will be sleeping out by choice – for some there is no choice. I hope that by our combined efforts we can make a difference to enable both charities to continue their great work”.

Simon on the Streets General Manager Helen Beachell, said: “We are overwhelmed that JW Filshill, JTI and local retailers are raising awareness and fundraising for us in this way. Without this kind of commitment we couldn’t continue our work supporting some very vulnerable people.”

Louise Hair, Area Sales Manager at JTI, said: “JTI employees are very proud to be taking part in The Big Sleep Out. I am sure it will be an eye-opening glimpse into the life of a rough sleeper but still far from the challenge many face each night. We look forward to raising money for such a great cause.”

Filshill and JTI have also made a commitment to match all fundraising from the event – doubling the amount of funds to be donated to Shelter Scotland and Simon on the Streets.
