Rugby posts

Retailers are being encouraged to take advantage of the sales opportunities created by The Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in France in two days time (8 September).

The 2015 Rugby World Cup held in England saw an uplift in beer sales with +4% value growth over the previous year, according to industry data from Asahi. For rugby fans, beer is the number one choice of beverage (60% choose beer), with lager the most popular beer type.

Jamie Ferguson, Head of Marketing at Parfetts, said: “The Rugby World Cup is an incredible opportunity for our retailers. It will drive increased BWS sales, with a focus on beers.”

He added: “Over 70% of rugby fans plan to watch the games at home, so ensuring sufficient stock of popular brands is key.”
