Nisa grows fresh produce sales

Nisa Retail has launched a new wholesale fresh produce service, with the intention of giving its retailers a competitive fresh produce offer to take on the market.

Launched on 7th March 2016, the initiative has already seen volume increases on fresh produce of 17%. In addition the new service has opened the door to Nisa fresh produce for 65 new members who had previously not taken it.

With fresh produce in the convenience supply chain generally supplied in smaller quantities, getting a competitive price which allows the retailer a healthy margin can be difficult. Through its new wholesale fresh produce initiative, Nisa has given its members the opportunity to purchase a selection of loose produce in larger quantities, improving cost efficiency and profit margin in the process.

“We have been buying fresh fruit and veg from the new wholesale service on Nisa’s OCS system and we are really happy with the quality, while prices are beating those delivered direct from the market,” said Nisa member Richard Cox.

Nisa’s Trading Director, Stewart Smith, was pleased to roll out the service to members and delighted that it had been so well received: “The intention is to give our members a convenient and efficient way to purchase fresh produce, ordered online and delivered to their door, which offer sector leading prices and a healthy profit margin, enabling them to perform competitively in a market place where the discounters and multiples are chasing the lowest price.”
