Newsagents applaud P&J for maintaining terms

Scottish newspaper publisher Aberdeen Journals has been applauded by independent newsagents for accompanying cover price rises to its weekday and Saturday editions with pro rata terms.

From next Monday (October 28) the price of the Press and Journal will rise 10p to 70p for Monday to Friday editions and to 80p on Saturday. With retail terms maintained, this means newsagents will receive an extra 2.5p per copy sold.

The NFRN’s Scottish President Des Donnelly said: “Independent newsagents play a leading role in the success of their local papers and we are pleased that Aberdeen Journals recognises this and is rewarding its sellers accordingly with a price rise accompanied by pro rata terms.

“The publisher has stated that as well as the cover price rises there will be some exciting promotions over coming weeks and I know that NFRN members will be only too happy to give all this activity their full support.”
