Lees Macaringues: horned horse scares soap star’s sheepdog

Lees Macaringues unicorn

Lees of Scotland has celebrated the release of their new look pastel coloured Macaringues with a tribute to Scotland’s national animal, the extremely on-trend unicorn.

An almond-flavoured meringue shell, the Lees Macaringue comes in three different colours: pink, lilac and green, as can be seen adorning the unicorn driver’s hair in the picture.

Eagle-eyed River City fans will also spot actor Libby McArthur, who played Gina Hamilton in the soap. McArthur was exercising her slightly-concerned-looking Border Collie in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park when she stumbled across the Lees photo shoot.Lees Macaringues

Commenting on the new product, Sheevaun Thomas, NPD Manager at Lees of Scotland, said: “We’ve seen so many people using our Macaringues in unicorn inspired recipes, so what better way to celebrate Scotland’s national animal?

“Our inspiration for the Macaringues has come from the macarons which Paris is famous for but with a little Scottish twist: they are completely different to anything we have previously developed before here at Lees. We’ve worked hard to develop the recipe and have created a really versatile product that can be used for all occasions.”

Sold in retail packs of 30, Lees Macaringues are both gluten and nut free, and are available now.
