Retailers have three days left to respond to the Scottish Government’s consultation on Restricting Promotions of Food and Drink High in Fat, Sugar or Salt (HFSS).

The Scottish Government published its proposals on 1 July this year. The consultation seeks views on restricting the promotion of confectionery, cakes, crisps, savoury snacks and sugary soft drinks at checkouts and front of store, and on multi-buy discounts. It also looks at matters such as exemptions for certain types of businesses as well as enforcement and implementation.

SGF has submitted a full consultation response on behalf of its members, but is encouraging convenience store operators and retailers to submit their own response to the proposals.

The consultation closes on Friday 23 September.

In addition, a Scottish Government survey to assess the potential impact on business of restricting promotions on HFSS will close on 31 October.
