Galloway Cheddar has announced the return of its nationwide community campaign, the ‘Galloway Gathering Project,’ which will donate 800kg of cheese (the equivalent of 90,000 meals) to food distribution charity, FareShare.
The campaign aims to tackle food insecurity and isolation through a series of events and community activities across Scotland.
As part of the campaign, established food trucks across the country will cook up special cheesy dishes using Galloway Cheddar for one-off fundraising days where customers will also be offered the opportunity to donate directly to FareShare.
In an expansion of the project, and new for 2025, Galloway Cheddar has launched ‘The Galloway Gathering Tour,’ a food and music roadshow designed to bring people together across Scotland. The tour will visit rural towns and villages, engaging communities through good food, live music and social interaction.
Scotland’s National Chef Gary Maclean also returns as ambassador for the campaign and will be leading cooking events at FareShare partner sites, preparing Macaroni Cheese with Galloway Cheddar, which will then be distributed to those in need through local charities.
