Vegan doggy ice cream gives retailers paws for thought

Cool Dog ice cream

A new artisan, vegan, lactose-free ice cream just for dogs, has launched in the UK.

Cool Dog is 100% natural, with no artificial colours or flavours, and is a good source of protein, potassium, zinc and calcium.

The brand has also achieved Food Standards Agency Approval and Trading Standards agreement to be marketed as an ‘ice cream’, rather than a frozen treat. Who knew dogs could be that fussy?

It is available in a 120 ml lidded pot (RSP £2.85) or a 5-litre tub to sell in scoops – for that authentic holiday experience – with a choice of Vanilla or Banana & Blueberry flavours.

The unbelievably named Don Thaw is the man behind the brand. He brought the product to market to cater for the proportion of pups who develop an intolerance to lactose – the natural sugar found in milk – after weaning. When fed a product containing dairy, adult dogs will often react by having digestive upsets. Cool Dog lets canines to enjoy a staple summer treat that’s healthy and won’t upset their digestion.

The brand is currently seeking the right wholesale partner to help with distribution. In the meantime, direct sales enquiries are welcomed on 07973 954015 or info@cooldogicecream.co.uk.

More information is available on the Cool Dog website.
