Restalrig Service Station in Edinburgh, which features a Jet forecourt and new Premier store, opened its doors last Friday (27th March) following a six-month closure and major redevelopment.

Former Hibernian FC legend, Pat Stanton, was on-hand to cut the ribbon. He was joined by site operator Rajan Sood of RJ Fuels Ltd, his son, Kiran Sood, daughter-in-law, Sophie Ahern, and Paul Yates, Jet Retail Account Manager at Phillips 66 Limited.

Only the original canopy and external shop building structure remain following the refit, which has seen the forecourt fully resurfaced and upgraded, with new pumps, improved layout and additional parking, alongside new under-canopy facilities for air and screen
wash. Jet Ultra Premium Fuels have also been introduced, offering four fuel grades to motorists for the first time.

The footprint of the shop has only slightly increased, but a complete redesign of the layout has more than doubled the retail offer, significantly improving both range and customer flow.
Food-to-go is central to the new proposition, with Fife Creamery providing hot and cold food, alongside a Stephens Bakery counter, Rollover hot food, Savage Kitchen fitness-focused ready meals and Lavazza coffee. This is alongside a wider convenience range tailored to local demand, as well as an on-site catering kitchen, with freshly prepared sandwiches and hot food set to be introduced.

The site has also invested in security technology from RetailAI to help identify suspicious behaviour and deter theft. The site is also trialling new functionality to monitor activity on the forecourt and help address unsafe behaviour.

Rajan said:
“This is a complete transformation of the site, and we’re really proud to be reopening and welcoming the community back. After being closed for six months, it’s been great to hear such positive feedback from local customers, particularly around the improved shop and food offer. We’ve created a space that better reflects what people want from a modern forecourt.”

Graham Clout, Retail Manager, UK Marketing, Phillips 66 Limited, added:
“It’s great to see the transformation of JET Restalrig and the positive impact this investment has on serving the local community. We work closely with our dealers to support developments like this, combining a strong, reliable fuel offer with a recognised brand, alongside the flexibility for sites to shape their own retail proposition. Together, this is how the Jet network continues to evolve to meet changing customer needs.”
