Breakaway gets boot

Breakaway bars

Nestlé is to cease production of its Breakaway bar due to a drop in sales of the chocolate biscuit, which first hit shelves in 1970.

The Yorkie Biscuit bar (not the Yorkie chocolate bar) is also getting the chop.

Nestlé will stop making Breakaways in March. The move will allow the food and drink giant to invest in NPD, with a number of new products apparently in the pipeline for 2024.

“We know fans will be disappointed to see it go, but it’s time for us to say goodbye to Breakaway,” a Nestlé spokesperson said.

“We have seen a decline in the sales of Breakaway over the past few years and unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue it.”
